Original: Israeli demolition in East Jerusalem displaces 69 Palestinians Sixty-nine Palestinians – more than half of them children
Sixty-nine Palestinians, more than half of them children, were displaced on Tuesday after Israeli authorities approved the demolition of their residential building in the At Tur area of East Jerusalem. The UN humanitarian aid office reported the displacement, drawing renewed attention to home demolitions and forced evictions affecting Palestinian residents of the occupied eastern part of the city.
Why now: The UN's report of a large demolition-driven displacement, including many children, is drawing international attention to ongoing home demolitions in East Jerusalem.
