A man in the Faroe Islands has been given an unconditional four-year prison sentence for cocaine offences. He pleaded guilty and accepted the verdict, according to national broadcaster KVF. Unconditional sentences mean no suspension of the term, making this a notably severe drug punishment in the small island community.
Why now: It is a significant drug sentencing case reported by Faroese national media.
