Earth in the firing line of strange new cosmic object: the 'microblazar'
Original: Earth is in the firing line of a strange new type of cosmic object: a 'microblazar'
Scientists have identified a new type of cosmic object dubbed a 'microblazar', with its energy jet reportedly pointed toward Earth. The designation appears to describe a smaller-scale version of a blazar, an active galactic nucleus whose relativistic jet aligns with our line of sight. The announcement has drawn attention from astronomy enthusiasts curious about what the discovery means for understanding high-energy phenomena in the universe.
Why now: A newly identified class of cosmic object with a jet aimed at Earth is an unusual and eye-catching astronomical discovery.
