Ukrainian refugees in Canada face career downgrading
Original: π¨π¦ πΊπ¦ Why some Ukrainian refugees struggle to rebuild their careers after arriving in Canada Employment downgrading repr
Many Ukrainian refugees who arrived in Canada after Russia's 2022 invasion are finding it difficult to rebuild their professional careers, often taking jobs well below their qualifications. Commentators argue this employment downgrading represents lost value not only for the individuals but for Canada itself, especially in sectors facing labour shortages such as health care and skilled trades, and are calling for better recognition of foreign credentials.
Why now: Ongoing debate about how Canada integrates Ukrainian newcomers into its labour market amid skills shortages.
