Fort Hood shooter to face military firing squad
Original: MILITARY FIRING SQUAD: Fort Hood terrorist learns his FATE
News coverage says the man behind the 2009 Fort Hood shooting has learned his fate, with reports centering on an execution by military firing squad. Nidal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, killed 13 people and wounded more than 30 in the November 2009 attack and has been on death row at Fort Leavenworth since his 2013 court-martial. If confirmed, it would be a rare use of the firing squad in a US military execution.
Why now: Reports of an execution date or method for the Fort Hood shooter revive one of the deadliest attacks on a US military base, drawing wide attention.
