Russian drone strikes have hit three cargo ships in the Black Sea off the Bulgarian coast since Monday, according to Repubblica. One merchant vessel was heading to the port of Ravenna, and the crew of fifteen is reported missing. The attacks near NATO member Bulgaria are being read in Italy as a direct provocation toward Europe.
Why now: Drone attacks on civilian shipping near a NATO border raise fears of escalation in the Black Sea.
