San Diego Padres reliever Mason Miller has been placed on the Major League Baseball Postseason Paternity List ahead of Game 3 of the National League Division Series, meaning he will miss the game for the birth of his child. The move forces the Padres to adjust their bullpen plans for a key playoff game.

Why now: A top reliever missing a playoff game for a family reason affects the Padres' chances in a close series.
