Yemeni Forces Claim Control of Strategic Taiz Mountain Peak

Original: 🟠 UPDATE Yemeni Forces Claim Control of Strategic Taiz Mountain Peak Yemeni forces have launched an offensive to retake

Yemeni forces say they have captured a strategic mountain peak in Taiz province as part of an offensive to retake the Houthi-held al-Waziiya district. The area is considered strategically significant because it provides key access to the Red Sea port of Mocha, which the Houthis have controlled. The fighting marks an escalation in the long-running contest over Taiz, one of Yemen's most contested regions.

Why now: Fresh battlefield claims in Yemen's civil war carry regional significance given the Red Sea port access at stake.
