Truffle hunter missing in mountains near Rigopiano
Original: rigopiano
Searches are underway in the mountains of Abruzzo for a man who went missing while looking for truffles near Rigopiano, in the province of Chieti. Local media report that rescue teams are combing the area. The case is drawing attention in part because of Rigopiano's recent history, including the 2017 Hotel Rigopiano avalanche that killed 29 people.
Why now: A man has gone missing during a truffle hunt in an area still associated with the deadly 2017 avalanche, prompting ongoing rescue operations.
