Russian mayors resign in Perm region and Krasnodar

Original: отставка

The governor of Perm Krai has dismissed the head of Gornozavodsk urban district, with regional authorities also moving to take control of the heating situation in the town, suggesting problems with the local utility supply may have played a role. Separately, Krasnodar mayor Yevgeny Naumov has stepped down. People are discussing whether these dismissals signal a wider wave of reshuffles among Russian municipal leaders.

Why now: Two sudden dismissals of Russian mayors in a short span are drawing attention to possible wider political or management shake-ups.
