Trump immigration crackdown divides rural voters ahead of midterms
Original: Trump's immigration crackdown divides rural voters as midterms approach, AP-KFF poll finds
A new AP-KFF poll finds rural voters are split over President Trump's immigration crackdown as the midterm elections approach. The findings suggest the tough enforcement policies that energized part of Trump's base have also created unease in rural communities that rely on immigrant labor in agriculture and food processing, complicating the political picture for Republican candidates heading into the campaign season.
Why now: A fresh AP-KFF poll on immigration politics is surfacing just as midterm campaigns get underway.
