Artist finds painting in tiny sketchbook a challenge

Original: Painting tiny still has a learning curve for me. My clip to hold this 5x5cm sketchbook open takes up a lot of real estat

An artist is practising watercolour in a 5x5 centimetre sketchbook, saying painting at such a small scale still has a learning curve. The clip used to hold the book open eats into the already tiny working space, and squashed trees have crept into the landscapes. They plan to reposition the clip periodically and keep refining the technique as they go.

Why now: Small-format watercolour painting poses unusual technical challenges, and the artist is sharing progress and lessons learned.

Evidence

• Painting tiny still has a learning curve for me. My clip to hold this 5x5cm sketchbook open takes up a lot of real estate. Fixing stuff in between by removing it once in a while would be a good idea. Fewer squashed trees, for sure! # art # artist # watercolor # watercolour #… · ujh@masto.ai · 8
