The MobilePay payment app will change its name to Vipps in Denmark and Finland in January, giving around 13 million users across the Nordic countries the same app name. The move follows the 2023 merger of Norwegian operator Vipps with Danske Bank's MobilePay, and users will see the new branding in the apps on Android and iOS as the companies unify their digital payment services under one Nordic name.
Why now: Nordic consumers are being notified of an upcoming rebrand of a widely used payment app affecting millions of users.
