Bluesky to offer users their own open web domains
Original: Bluesky wants to give you your own domain on the open web https://techcrunch.com/2026/10/06/bluesky-wants-to-give-you-yo
Bluesky has announced plans to give users their own domain on the open web, according to TechCrunch. The move would let people establish a portable, self-owned identity beyond the platform, in line with Bluesky's decentralised ethos. Discussion so far centres on what this means for user control and the wider open social web.
Why now: Bluesky's domain announcement is new and relevant to ongoing debates about decentralised social media and identity ownership.
