Norway Hosts Mental Health Film Festival in Lillehammer
Original: Lillehammer’s "Other" Olympics: The Mad in Norway International Film Festival
The Mad in Norway International Film Festival is taking place in Lillehammer, the town that hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics. The event showcases films focused on mental health and psychiatry, positioning itself as the city's 'other' Olympics. Organisers and advocates frame it as a platform for open conversation about madness, psychiatry and lived experience, drawing international attention to alternative perspectives on mental health care.
Why now: The festival's clever framing as Lillehammer's 'other' Olympics is drawing attention to mental health issues in Norway.
