Original: болгария
Two commercial vessels in Bulgarian waters of the Black Sea were hit by drone attacks, with one of the ships sinking. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia carried out the strikes. The incident near the Bulgarian coast has drawn international attention as it extends the Black Sea conflict to waters of a NATO member state.
Why now: The attack on civilian shipping near a NATO country's waters escalates the Russia-Ukraine war into a new area of concern.
