GOP senators turn on Hegseth
Republican senators have publicly broken ranks with Pete Hegseth, signalling open criticism of the Defence Secretary from within his own party. The rebellion comes amid mounting scrutiny of his leadership at the Pentagon, with several lawmakers no longer willing to defend him. With control of the Senate, GOP members' objections carry real political weight, and the split is fuelling speculation about how long Hegseth can hold onto the post.
Why now: Members of Hegseth's own party publicly criticising him marks a significant political rift drawing wide attention.
