Donald Trump claimed that if Iran developed nuclear weapons it could 'take out' Los Angeles and San Diego, framing the prospect as a direct threat to US cities. The remarks add to his hardline rhetoric on Iran's nuclear programme and are drawing attention amid ongoing debate over how to restrain Tehran's atomic ambitions.
Why now: Trump's stark warning about Iran hitting major US cities escalates rhetoric around the Iranian nuclear threat at a moment of renewed tension.
