Original: Sweden Deploys Patriot System and 100 Troops to Guard NATO Hub in Poland
Sweden is deploying a Patriot air defence system and around 100 soldiers to Poland to protect a NATO logistics hub, notably the Jasionka hub near Rzeszów used for aid to Ukraine. The move marks a significant Swedish contribution to allied defence on NATO's eastern flank following its accession to the alliance. The deployment is drawing attention across the Nordic region and beyond as a sign of Sweden's deepening military role in NATO.
Why now: Sweden's first major armed deployment on NATO's eastern flank signals its new role in the alliance amid ongoing war in Ukraine.
