Mexico's 911 emergency line in the spotlight
Original: 911
Emergency calls to Mexico's 911 line are drawing attention. The CRT confirmed that calls to 911 work even on disabled or out-of-credit phone lines, while reports show women and millennials lead the rise in calls related to mental health crises. Other coverage includes a reported assault of a 13-year-old in Monclova, an injured man rescued in Chapulco after a 911 report, and growing calls over domestic violence in Ciudad Victoria.
Why now: Recent reporting on rising mental health and violence-related 911 calls, plus the CRT's guarantee that the line works on disabled phones, has put the emergency number in the news.
