Taira Kaito wins best ERA award after moving to starting role

Original: 平良海馬

DeNA BayStars pitcher Taira Kaito has claimed the Central League's best ERA title in a career-best season. He said he volunteered for a move from relief to the starting rotation, explaining that while relief work is important, starting carries greater weight. He called it an award won in the role he asked for himself.

Why now: The award announcement capped a standout season and his notable self-requested switch to starter.
