Mikaela Shiffrin, widely regarded as the greatest slalom skier of all time, will skip slalom events this World Cup season and focus on other alpine skiing disciplines instead. The decision by the American star, the most successful racer in World Cup history, comes as she reshapes her program ahead of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
Why now: Shiffrin is one of the biggest names in winter sports and the Olympics are approaching, so any change to her race schedule draws wide attention.
