Calls grow to protect Salvadoran TPS holders
Original: Provide time, order and mercy for Salvadoran TPS holders
Advocates and commentators are urging US policymakers to grant Temporary Protected Status holders from El Salvador more time, an orderly transition, and mercy rather than abrupt removal. Hundreds of thousands of Salvadorans have lived in the United States for decades under TPS, and any change to their status affects families, employers and communities in both countries. The debate has drawn attention in US and Salvadoran outlets alike.
Why now: Ongoing US immigration policy decisions are putting the status of long-term Salvadoran TPS holders in question.
