Democrats Move to Keep 2028 Hopefuls Eyeing General Election
Original: Democratic Effort Aims to Keep 2028 Hopefuls Focused on General Election
Democratic officials are working to keep potential 2028 presidential candidates focused on the general election rather than moving sharply left to win primary contests, according to a report by The New York Times. The effort reflects concern within the party about positions that could prove damaging in a national race, as early jockeying for the nomination begins years ahead of schedule.
Why now: Early positioning for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination is already under way, drawing attention to party strategy.
