Democrats pin hopes on logger candidate to unseat Susan Collins

Original: Democrats hope a boba-drinking, fifth-generation logger can beat Sen. Susan Collins

Democrats are backing a fifth-generation logger in the race to unseat Maine Senator Susan Collins, hoping an everyman profile with working-class roots can defeat the longtime incumbent. The candidate's unconventional background, including the boba-drinking detail, has drawn attention to the party's efforts to find an appealing challenger in a state that has leaned more Democratic in recent cycles.

Why now: Democrats view the Maine Senate seat as a winnable race in the next midterm election and are promoting a candidate with a distinctive personal story.
