Last Resort: the overlooked 2012 thriller from The Shield creator

Original: The Shield creator’s 2012 action series Last Resort is one of the best thrillers you never watched

Shawn Ryan's 2012 ABC action series Last Resort is being revisited as one of the best overlooked thrillers of its era. The show, about a nuclear submarine crew defying orders and taking over an island, lasted only one season despite critical praise. Writers argue it deserves rediscovery, pointing to Ryan's pedigree as creator of The Shield and the series' ambitious premise.

Why now: Renewed interest in Shawn Ryan's work and a wave of re-evaluations of cancelled quality dramas are prompting people to revisit the short-lived series.
