Chicago Cubs third baseman Alex Bregman has described the team's season as a 'failure' in comments reported by The Athletic. The remarks suggest internal disappointment with how the year ended, even if the Cubs had a competitive run. Fans and analysts are weighing his blunt assessment against the club's broader expectations and what it signals for the offseason ahead.

Why now: The Cubs' season just ended, prompting reflection from players about whether the team met expectations.
