India among seven countries vying for 2036 Olympics
Original: India among seven countries vying for 2036 Olympics, IOC says
The International Olympic Committee says seven countries, including India, are in the race to host the 2036 Summer Olympics. India has signalled growing ambition to stage the Games, with Ahmedabad previously floated as a potential host city. The IOC has not named a frontrunner, and a formal bidding process for 2036 is still taking shape.
Why now: The IOC's confirmation that India is formally in contention for a first-ever Olympics on its soil is a major sporting and diplomatic development.
