Original: Hi everyone! 👋 This is my first post on DEV, and I’m excited to finally join the community — especially during Hacktober
A new developer has written a first post introducing themselves to the DEV community, timed to coincide with Hacktoberfest 2026, the annual October open-source contribution event. The writer says this year's edition looks very different from previous years and describes it as more exciting, drawing attention to what has changed in the programme.
Why now: Hacktoberfest is running right now, prompting developers to share first posts and discuss changes to the 2026 edition.
