Games Workshop now worth more than UK fishing industry
Original: Games Workshop outweighs UK fishing
Games Workshop, the British maker of Warhammer miniatures, has reportedly grown larger than the entire UK fishing industry, a comparison circulating after the government's recent trade negotiations with the EU placed fishing quotas at their centre. Commenters are using the contrast to argue that ministers focused heavily on a sector that is economically small compared with other British industries.
Why now: Post-Brexit trade talks with the EU made fishing a headline issue, prompting comparisons with the sector's actual economic weight.
