US seeks dialogue with Sudan's army chief after barring him
Original: After blocking Sudan’s army chief from entering the US, the Trump-led administration now wants to open a dialogue
The Trump administration has moved to open a dialogue with Sudan's army chief, just after blocking him from entering the United States. The shift from exclusion to engagement comes as Washington continues to navigate the conflict in Sudan, and it is drawing attention to what the administration's broader strategy toward Khartoum's military leadership actually is.
Why now: The rapid reversal from a travel ban to outreach toward Sudan's military leader is seen as a significant shift in US policy on the Sudan conflict.
