Climate change ignored in New Zealand election campaign
Original: Unsurprisingly our # climate system continues to evolve, despite being invisible in the # nzpol election run-up. # seaic
As New Zealand heads into its general election, climate campaigners and scientists are voicing frustration that the changing climate system, including declining sea ice, has barely featured in campaign debate. One comment notes that sea ice is fundamental to keeping the planet's systems stable as they have been for millennia, yet the issue remains absent from the political run-up despite ongoing evidence of change.
Why now: The New Zealand election is under way and voters are questioning why climate issues are missing from the campaign.
