Quebec separatists win election, reviving independence push

The Parti Quebecois has won Quebec's provincial election, with leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon vowing to hold a future referendum on independence from Canada. The victory revives the sovereignty movement, which has been dormant since the failed 1995 referendum. Observers are debating what the result means for Canadian unity and the province's political future.
Why now: An election win by a pro-independence party puts Quebec sovereignty back on Canada's political agenda after decades on the sidelines.
