Developer resurrects Apple's classic iChat calling feature
Original: Resurrecting iChat audio and video conferencing
A software developer has published a write-up on reviving iChat, Apple's discontinued audio and video conferencing client, restoring its calling functionality on modern systems. The project taps into nostalgia for the early-2000s Mac messaging era and draws interest from readers who remember the service and from those curious about the technical challenges of reviving long-dead protocols and server infrastructure.
Why now: Nostalgia for Apple's discontinued iChat and interest in retro-computing restoration projects
