Banned Books Week Returns Amid Rising Book Challenges
Original: Banned Books Week
Banned Books Week is drawing attention as readers, librarians and authors highlight titles that have been challenged or removed from schools and public libraries. The annual campaign, led by free-speech and library organisations, comes amid ongoing disputes in the United States over book restrictions, with many sharing lists of frequently targeted works and urging continued access.
Why now: It is the annual awareness week for book censorship, timed as book challenges remain a contested political and cultural issue.
