Open Source as We Know It Is Dead, Essay Argues
Original: Open Source as We Know It Is Dead https://jross.me/open-source-as-we-know-it-is-dead/ # OpenSource # Tech # Community
A new essay by Jacob Ross argues that open source as it has traditionally been understood is effectively dead. The piece is circulating among developers and tech communities, sparking discussion about what the label means today, the pressures of commercialisation, and whether community-driven software can survive in its current form.
Why now: Developers are debating the essay's provocative claim about the decline of traditional open source.
