Original: The Dutch government wants to ban smartphones from schools, both during lessons and during break times https:// thelemmy
The Dutch government is proposing a ban on smartphones in schools, covering not only lessons but also break times. The policy is part of a broader European debate over mobile phone use by children and its effects on concentration, wellbeing and social interaction at school. Reactions online are mixed, with supporters welcoming stricter limits and others questioning enforcement and the need for a national rule rather than school-level decisions.
Why now: Governments across Europe are actively debating or implementing school smartphone bans, making this Dutch proposal part of a live policy conversation.
