Journalist Mehdi Hasan is drawing attention for arguing that the British Green Party "got it exactly right" on Israel, comparing its position to the United Nations General Assembly's 1975 Resolution 3379, which declared Zionism a form of racism and colonialism. The remark, shared with hashtags on UK politics and the Green Party, is prompting debate over the party's Israel policy and the resolution's controversial legacy.

Why now: Mehdi Hasan's comparison of the Green Party's stance to a notoriously contested UN resolution is provoking political argument in the UK.
