Iran says US nuclear proposal ignores Strait of Hormuz concerns
Original: US proposal focuses on nuclear issue, but Iran's focus is on Strait of Hormuz: Baghaei
Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the US proposal in ongoing talks centres on the nuclear issue, while Iran's priority is the Strait of Hormuz, the key oil shipping waterway. His comments highlight a widening gap between the two sides' agendas in diplomacy, with observers watching whether the dispute over the strategic strait could derail broader nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
Why now: Tensions in US-Iran nuclear talks are rising over whether the Strait of Hormuz will be addressed, drawing wide attention.
