Russian commentator claims nuclear weapons will be used in the war

Original: NUCLEAR WEAPONS WILL BE USED IN THIS WAR. SERGEY PERESLEGIN

Sergey Pereslegin says nuclear weapons will be used in the war in Ukraine. The claim, delivered in a widely viewed broadcast on a Russian-language channel, reflects a growing strand of nuclear rhetoric around the conflict. There is no independent confirmation of the prediction, and officials on either side have not endorsed it.

Why now: Fear of nuclear escalation in the Ukraine war makes dramatic predictions from Russian commentators attention-grabbing.
