On March 10, the United Nations General Assembly formally designated October 1 as International Coffee Day through Resolution 80/248. The resolution recognizes that coffee provides economic benefits at every step of the global value chain and contributes significantly to the economies of producing countries. The move gives official UN backing to a date long celebrated informally by the coffee industry and爱好者 worldwide.
Why now: The UN's formal recognition of a globally beloved commodity and the millions of farmers who depend on it is drawing attention.
