Golden Dome missile defense plan faces space logistics questions
Original: Can Golden Dome truly succeed without logistics and sustainment in space?
Defense analysts and outlets are debating whether the Golden Dome missile defense initiative can succeed without a robust plan for logistics and sustainment in space. The program, intended to provide layered missile defense, would require satellites and other orbital assets to be maintained, refueled and replaced over time. Commentators argue that without serious investment in on-orbit servicing and supply chains, the system's long-term effectiveness could be undermined.
Why now: Golden Dome is a high-profile missile defense program, and questions about its feasibility and cost keep it in the news.
