Apple changes macOS Full Disk Access rules as AI agents arrive

Original: Apple macOS Full Disk Access changes: What AI agents mean for your Mac

Apple is adjusting how macOS handles Full Disk Access permissions, with a focus on what AI agents running on Macs will be able to see and do. The changes matter because AI assistants increasingly need broad access to files, mail and messages to be useful, raising questions about user privacy and control. Commentators are weighing whether Apple's permission model can keep AI tools in check without breaking their functionality.

Why now: AI agents on Macs need deep file access, making Apple's permission changes newly relevant to privacy debates.
