Young Jews drift from federations over Israel and Netanyahu
Original: Jewish federations are losing my generation — and future ones — over Israel and Netanyahu
A writer argues in The Forward that Jewish federations are losing younger generations over their unwavering support for Israel and Benjamin Netanyahu. The piece reflects growing tension in American Jewish life, with younger Jews increasingly critical of Israeli government policy and less willing to back establishment institutions that defend it. It frames the split as a generational and long-term challenge for communal fundraising and leadership.
Why now: Ongoing debate over Israel's war and Netanyahu's government has intensified generational divides within American Jewish institutions.
