Paxton Claims Washington DC Is Running Rival Campaign
Original: Paxton says DC runs campaign
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has asserted that Washington, DC is running a political campaign, a claim made as he pursues his challenge against Senator John Cornyn in the Texas Republican Senate primary. Paxton has repeatedly framed his rival as aligned with the Washington establishment, and the comment fits that pattern. Supporters are amplifying the accusation while critics call it a cynical campaign talking point. The race has become one of the most-watched Republican primaries ahead of the midterm elections.
Why now: Paxton's combative primary challenge against Senator John Cornyn keeps his statements about the Washington establishment in the political spotlight.
