Original: RE: https:// mastodon.social/@MAKS23/117389 140744755947 Great… just great. Russian authorities checking the temperature
Russian authorities are checking the temperature of passengers on a flight departing from Irkutsk, in Siberia, following reports of a worker's death at a facility there linked to pathogens. The screening has drawn alarmed reactions online, with commenters sarcastically noting that 2020 did not need another potential outbreak, invoking plague and bioweapons speculation.
Why now: News of a possible plague-related death and airport temperature checks has stoked fears of a new epidemic on top of the COVID-19 pandemic.
