The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics reports that Israeli forces have damaged 82% of all buildings in Gaza since the war began in October 2023. The figure underscores the scale of destruction across the territory, where homes, schools, hospitals and infrastructure have been hit by more than a year of Israeli military operations following the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel.
Why now: New official data quantifying the unprecedented scale of physical destruction in Gaza is drawing widespread attention as the war continues.
