Yemeni forces retake Dhubab near Bab al-Mandeb from Houthis
Original: Yemeni forces reclaim Dhubab, key positions near Bab al-Mandeb from Houthis
Yemeni forces have recaptured the coastal district of Dhubab and key positions near the Bab al-Mandeb strait from the Houthis, according to Al Jazeera. The area sits at the entrance to the Red Sea, making its control strategically significant for shipping lanes. Details on casualties and the duration of the offensive remain limited as the situation on the ground continues to develop.
Why now: Bab al-Mandeb is a critical global shipping chokepoint, so changes in territorial control there have regional and international implications.
