Netanyahu vows no Hamas rule in Gaza at October 7 memorial

Original: ‘There will be no Hamas rule in Gaza,’ Netanyahu vows at October 7 memorial

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared at a memorial for the October 7 attacks that 'there will be no Hamas rule in Gaza.' The pledge, made during commemorations for the victims of the 2023 Hamas-led assault, reaffirms Israel's stated aim of removing Hamas from power, even as the future governance of the Gaza Strip remains a central and unresolved question in ceasefire and postwar negotiations.

Why now: The October 7 anniversary has renewed attention on Israel's vow to end Hamas rule and the unresolved question of Gaza's future governance.
