Microsoft accused of disguising data centers as nature while backing gas
Original: Microsoft Is Camouflaging 20+ Data Centers As Nature, While Signing a 20-Year Gas Deal
Microsoft is building more than 20 data centers designed to blend into their natural surroundings, even as the company signs a 20-year deal tied to natural gas. The combination is drawing attention to a gap between the company's green image and its energy choices. Critics see the camouflaged facilities as optics, with the long gas commitment undercutting claims of climate-friendly expansion.
Why now: The contrast between Microsoft's environmental branding and its fossil fuel deal is sparking debate about corporate greenwashing.
